Digital Sherpa?

http://educationaltechnology.ca/couros/1335

I am a digital Sherpa, at least I think I might be.
Please allow me to explain.

As I am asked what I do as a Technology Integrator I am often at a loss for exactly the right description.  In searching coaching models in business I ran across the idea of being a Sherpa Guide.  It is born out of the native guides who help climbers make their way up to the top of Mount Everest.  The guides enable, advise and assist those wishing to make the trek.

Climbers still have to reach the top with their own skill but they are not alone.  Additionally, every climb is unique and brings their own particular set of challenges and opportunities.  This analogy seems particularly accurate as I think of the hard work that goes on in classrooms today.

To those I have had the good fortune to guide, thank you.  Please know that as  you have gained new skills I am honing my own as well.  I have enjoyed guiding you towards your highest goals and look forward to new mountains to climb.

Trying your best.

Words to live by.
As teachers we often feel like we have to be everything to everybody all the time.  That is just not possible.  We can only do our best with the tools and time we have been given.  That's not to say we can't learn to do things more efficiently or effectively but right now, at this very moment, we are left with the reality of doing the best we can.  No one can rightly ask for more.
